Courses Taught

I have experience teaching architecture and environmental design students and design professionals as faculty at:

  • University of Colorado

  • Catholic University of America

  • Arizona State University

  • Center for Health Design

Private online courses, coaching, and tutoring available to individuals or groups

  • Neuroscience + Architecture

This seminar explores how knowledge about the brain, body and environment can inform design applications which support health, wellbeing and performance.

  • Human Behavior in Design & Planning

By gaining a greater awareness of critical issues concerning human and social connectivity to the built environment, students can apply this knowledge during design to promote health and welfare.

  • How we launched an Evidence-Based Design initiative

In this coaching workshop designed for working professionals, I share strategies for how designers, companies, and healthcare systems can put evidence-based design into practice.

  • Design for All

Part seminar, part studio, this hybrid course introduces methods to evaluate the inclusivity of our existing environments across mobility, sensory, and cognitive dimensions. Students create a design project which improves accessibility.

  • Design for Learning

In this design studio, students analyzed schools and learning environments in parallel with investigating how learning and development changes from pre-school through high school, and varies across abilities to create a science-informed design for a middle or high school.

  • The body as an instrument for designing

Our body is a tool which gives us our primary experience of knowing and understanding the environment. In this studio, we use human experience as a starting point in the design process to evaluate environments, and then choreograph meaningful experiences through architectural design.
